Announcements – Friday, February 3, 2012

·          The Batesville Middle School Student Council is collecting items for the troops currently serving in the armed forces. Items will be collected starting January 31st through Tuesday February 7th. Donation boxes can be found on the stage in the commons and on the table in the gym. Some items you may want to bring in are:

-baby wipes

-white crew socks

-current magazines and newspapers

- crosswords, Sudoku, word searches, etc.

-candy (no chocolate)

-beef jerky

For the full list of items to bring, please check your blue paper you received during advisory.

·           Student Council t-shirt orders are due today to Mrs. Barnett!

·           There will be a Student Council meeting after school today until 3:45 for the Valentine's Day Sucker Sale committee and the Activities Night committee. Please see Mrs. Barnett if you have questions.

·           Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade girl or boy that wants to participate in Track and Field this Spring please sign up in the commons area.  Conditioning will begin in February. In order to participate you must have a completed sports physical on file.

·           Congratulations to those 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who made Straight A's for the first semester of the 2011-2012 school year!   Students will be recognized prior to the Batesville School Board meeting on February 20th.  A list of honorees can be found posted on the student bulletin board in the Commons. Please see Mrs. Bergman in the front office as soon as possible if you have any questions. 

·           Batesville's Got Talent tickets are for sale for $10 each while they last! Please see Mrs. McCreary to purchase.

·           McDonald’s of Lawrenceburg is sponsoring the “Run-N-Gun” 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on March 17th& 18th at South Dearborn High School. You will find more information and registration forms on the bulletin board in the commons.

Sports: Girls Basketball – The 7th grade lady Bulldogs basketball team earned its 5th win of the year Thursday by defeating Mt. Carmel.  The final score in the game was 46 to 22.  Leading the Dogs in scoring was Sylvia Phillips who had 17 points. Behind her was Julia Hunter with 12. Rounding out the leading scorers were Nikki Elkins with 5 and Kristin Covert with 5.  Defensively, Anna Kick put forth a great effort with 6 steals.

The 8th grade BMS Lady Bulldogs defeated Mt. Carmel by a score of 35 to 24. The Dogs were led with two players having double doubles.  Samantha Heidlage scored 15 points and pulled down 16 rebounds while Mary Catherine Barnett scored 10 points on two 3’s and pulled down 12 rebounds.  Sophia Fledderman added a timely 4th quarter steal and hit both of her free throws late in the game.  Their season record is 3 and 2.

Lunch: Chicken stix, Winter blend vegetables, Rice pudding, Fruit, Milk, OR BOXED LUNCH

BMS Student Council will be collecting items to make care packages for our troops serving overseas. Jan. 31 until Feb. 7th. They can be donated to a designated location in the Commons and in the gym. Please click here for a list of items needed.

Batesville youth t-ball/baseball/softball leagues will be having registration for all ages for the 2012 season Fri., Feb 17 @ the BHS boys basketball game, Sun., Feb. 19 @ the YMCA 12-4 & Sat., Feb. 25 @ the YMCA 9-12. OR you may register online by clicking here.

BCSC School Board, has approved a modified balanced calendar for the 2012-2013 school year.
