Fund Raisers and Committees

Following is a list of PTO sponsored events and committees at Saint Louis School. Read on to learn a bit about each committee and perhaps new ways that you may become more involved. If you require further information or would like to volunteer, please contact one the PTO executive officers. 

 
Cafeteria Decorating Committee This committee decorates the cafeteria three to four times a year.

Cafeteria Help

Each school day 4 Cafeteria Helpers are needed to help prepare and serve the food, as well as clean up tables and dishes. To completely fill the schedule 200 volunteers are needed. The hours are 9:30 to 1:30 one day a month.

Candy Sale

Help organize this spring fundraising event. Responsibilities may include assisting chairman in selection of vendor and merchandise, packing and distributing merchandise to students, and helping students collect money.

Campbell's Labels for Education

Save your Campbell's labels for this ongoing fundraiser. The school can redeem collected labels for educational and athletic equipment. Catholic Schools Week Italian Night Cathlic Schools Week- Assist in planning and staffing this special week of events that draw attention to the importance of Catholic School Education. Held in late January in conjunction with the annual Science Fair. Families are contacted in early January to sign up to assist with this event.
Cross Walk Committee This committee would assist children across two cross walks, which include Main Street and Mulberry Street after school.

Cultural Arts

Help plan and organize field trips.

Enrichment

Help organize this semi-annual program which offers students a variety of extracurricular activities. Classes are usually one hour in length and meet once a week for approximately 4-6 weeks. Responsibilities may include assisting chairman in researching possible programs, recruiting instructors, preparing informatin package for students, scheduling classes and supervising programs.

General Mills Box Tops for Education

Clip and collect General Mills Box Tops Logos for this ongoing fundraiser. The school can redeem collected Box Tops Logos for cash. Grades 1 - 4 Parties Help organize and staff the three parties for Grades 1, 2, 3, and 4. The parties include Christmas, Valentines Day and the End of the Year Carnival.

Hospitality/Welcoming

Prepare a part or whole meal for a family in need. Deliver meal if necessary. Prepare and deliver baby and new student gifts. Assist with Open House for Kindergarten. Assist the Principal with introducing parents of prospective students to St. Louis School by giving tours of the school. Help with snacks and lunches for teachers' meetings.

In-School Service

Assist teachers with clerical duties such as running copy machine or laminating. Cut and count donated product labels such as Campbells and Box Tops for Education.

Library

Assist librarian with preparing books and magazines to be placed on the shelves, including covering books or entering them into the library system.

PTO Festival Booth

Work in the booth the day of the St. Louis Parish Festival.

Recycling Committee Help sort, count and mail used printer cartridges and cell phones to companies that recycle them. Program provides cash to school.

Rummage Sale

Help organize this summer fundraising event. Responsibilities may include helping sort, price and display merchandise and working as a cashier on sale days. This fundraiser is one of the major fundraising events for the PTO.

St. Louis Trash Bag Sale

New this year. Prepare sales packets for students, process orders, pack and distribute merchandise and collect money. The St. Louis Trash Bag Sale will begin this fall. It is one of the three major fundraisers for PTO.

Special Events

Holidays- Purchase and distribute gifts for the students for St. Nick's Day, Christmas, Easter, First Communion and Graduation.

Art Fair- Assist the Art Teacher in displaying the student's artistic works as well as serve refreshments at the Art Fair.

Super Sunday Bingo Super Sunday Bingo is held twice a year. This event is a very important fundraiser to St. Louis Catholic School. Since its inception, the Bingo program has generated over $3,600,000 to support our school. Annually, Bingo raises approximately $500 per student. In order for this event to be a success, the help of every parent is needed and expected as many ways as possible.
Teacher Christmas Gift Committee Committee members solicit ideas from St. Louis School Faculty and Staff to generate ideas for the gift cards which generate the Giving Tree. Gift ideas from the Giving Tree are available during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Assistance is also needed to facilitate the gift card and/or contribution form distribution.
Weekly Bingo Kitchen helpers, floor helpers, and bakers are needed. Kitchen helpers set up concessions, prepare and serve the food. Floor Helpers clear tables and watch for bingos. Bakers either make a couple cakes, pies, cookies, or brownies for bingo. All helpers and bakers only work one Thursday a month.

Volunteer to Assist with School Nurse

The committee members assist with height and weight measurements and escort students to and from the classrooms for vision and scoliosis testing. No health care experience required.
